History

With 17,000 distinguished alumni in the Greater Washington, DC metro area, ColumbiaDC is one of the largest Columbia alumni chapter outside of NYC. This is a point of utmost pride for ColumbiaDC, and it also serves as its impetus -- to serve members with a passion and professionalism worthy of Columbia alumni.

While ColumbiaDC was founded in 1986 in its current form, it has been active since 1885 under various names and organizations. In 1995, the club celebrated its 100th anniversary dinner at the National Press Club with a speech from famed Professor Jacques Barzun.

The club's signature event is the annual Alexander Hamilton Dinner, where at the start of each calendar year, distinguished faculty members speak on important topics of the day to a packed network of Columbia alumni.
